WATER TRANSPORTATION  PROJECT

Through previous assessment, EWB-BU has identified water quality as a primary health concern, Given that safe-drinking water sources (i.e deep wells) are few and far apart, community members often walk several kilometers each day to acquire water. Moreover, women and children are often tasked with the strenuous journey to acquire water. In this way, finding a more efficient means of transporting water, either by increasing the transportable bulk, reducing the time of transport, and alleviating the physical stress, can provide more opportunities for other work to increase economic productivity or rest. As of 2017, this project has transformed into the rainwater harvesting project due to various cultural reasons in the community.
 DEVELOPING TECHNOLOGY

Prototype of cart for water transportation with less physical strain.
An issue of gender equality, water can mean everything to a community — especially to women and children*.
