August Bernhard is a Junior in Electrical Engineering studying the power systems that keep buildings running efficiently. He has been involved with Engineers Without Borders since his Freshman year, where he was able to travel to Naluja, Zambia to construct a Rainwater Catchment system that has provided the community with clean water year round. As a Junior, he traveled to Tinet, Kenya to assess the Kapkeet community for a borehole well, as well as construct 25 water filters that were distributed to the new and expecting mothers of Tinet. He is excited to help the new batch of travelers finish the work he started in Kenya and looks forward to the benefits this well will have on the lives of the people he met during his trip.
